Russia has carried out over 30 massive attacks on Ukraine's energy sector in 3 years

Since the start of the full-scale invasion, Russia has launched more than 30 massive attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, causing billions of dollars in damage.

According to Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko, 13 such attacks were recorded in 2024 alone.

According to him, each massive attack involves 100 to 300 munitions that simultaneously target power plants, substations, power lines and gas infrastructure. In total, more than 60,000 energy facilities have been damaged over the past three years.

In addition to large-scale attacks, Russia carries out daily targeted shelling of energy infrastructure, including facilities critical to the operation of nuclear power plants, which poses a threat of a nuclear disaster.

Currently, 18 GW of generation capacity, including hydroelectric power plants, thermal power plants and Zaporizhzhia NPP, are under Russian occupation.
