As of 22 February, rescuers continue to eliminate the consequences of a Russian drone strike that hit the shelter of the fourth power unit.
According to the State Emergency Service, rescuers continue to open the shelter structures and eliminate the smouldering centre on the north side of the arch.
It is noted that experts are constantly monitoring the situation using drones with thermal imaging cameras and handheld thermal imagers.
The SES assures that the radiation background at the plant is within normal limits and there is no threat to the public.

Earlier it was reported that drones with thermal imagers were involved in the liquidation of the consequences of the Russian attack.
As a reminder, on the night of 14 February, a Russian attack drone hit a shelter over the destroyed fourth power unit of the Chornobyl nuclear power plant.
Later, the Government allocated more than 1.5 billion hryvnias to keep the Chornobyl NPP shelter safe after the Russian attack. The funding was increased by UAH 139 million compared to 2024.
As it is known, in June last year, the Verkhovna Rada ratified a framework agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) on the operation of the International Cooperation Account for Chornobyl.
