The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine has said that the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant is once again on the verge of blackout due to Russian shelling.

According to the press service of the ministry, one of the two power lines of the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP was cut off as a result of Russian attacks.

Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko noted that without Ukraine regaining control over the plant, its safety remains at risk.

«One of the two power lines connecting the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP to the integrated power system of Ukraine has been disconnected once again. Due to the occupation of the plant by the Russians, the situation at ZNPP remains threatening, and only the return of control over the plant to Ukraine can guarantee the safe operation of Europe's largest nuclear power plant», he said.

As a reminder, IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi warned of the risk of a nuclear accident in Ukraine due to Russian attacks.
