Police seized drugs worth over ₴2.6 billion in Ukraine in 2024

Drugs seized in Odesa region. Photo: National PoliceIn 2024, police seized almost 5.5 tonnes of drugs worth more than 2.6 billion hryvnias in Ukraine.
The head of the National Police, Ivan Vyhivskyi, said this in an interview with Ukrainian News.
«This year we have seized almost 5.5 tonnes of drugs, which is more than 20 million doses, and more than 24 tonnes of precursors. The estimated value of the seized drugs at the prices of the «black» market is over 2.6 billion hryvnias. More than 6 tonnes of drugs could be produced from 24 tonnes of precursors. Such volumes of drugs have never been seized in our country in a year», he said.
According to him, the property of drug traffickers worth more than 160 million hryvnias was seized and confiscated.
In addition, indictments have been sent to court in almost 39,000 criminal proceedings, including 143 organised groups and criminal organisations that have committed more than two thousand crimes related to drug trafficking.
Earlier, law enforcement officers detained a man suspected of organising drug trafficking.
