Two Russian tankers sink in the Black Sea

On Sunday, December 15, two Russian tankers, Volgoneft 212 and Volgoneft-239, sank in the Kerch Strait. The cause of the accident is said to be a strong storm.

This is reported by Russian Telegram channels.

Initially, it became known about the critical situation on the tanker «Volgoneft», which ran aground. There were 13 crew members on board, they were rescued. It is also indicated that 4 tons of fuel oil could have leaked into the sea from the tanker.

Later it became known that another tanker, Volgoneft-239, began to sink after it. Its hull broke into two parts after being hit by a wave. There were 14 people on board and a cargo of petroleum products, also over 4 thousand tons of fuel oil. The ship drifted. The tugboat Mercury came to the aid of the crew from Kerch, and a Mi-8 helicopter of the Russian Emergencies Ministry was sent by the Crimean Spas rescue team.

It was previously reported that despite official restrictions and bans, millions of tons of Russian oil continue to be transported to the European Union. Journalist Mykhailo Tkach of the Ukrainska Pravda newspaper published an investigation and revealed the Russian shadow fleet that delivers oil to various countries.
