Crimes against children: Kherson law enforcement officers opened more than 800 criminal proceedings

During nine months of 2024, law enforcement officers opened 862 criminal proceedings in the Kherson region related to the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine and crimes committed against children.

This was reported by the press service of the Kherson regional prosecutor's office.

According to the press service, the cases include the death of 40 children and the injury of 177. In addition, the deportation of 730 children, the abduction of 25 children, and two cases of sexual crimes against children are being investigated.

The department noted that proceedings have been opened regarding the damage or destruction of more than 700 objects of children's infrastructure, including educational and medical institutions.

Earlier, the children's ombudsman stated that the Russian war violates absolutely all the rights of Ukrainian children

Also, NikVesti reported that in the Mykolaiv region there was an increase in complaints about domestic violence, especially among families where parents returned from the war.
