Sweden plans to restore the village of Zmiivka in the Kherson region, which was damaged by Russian shelling.
This was announced by Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, following a business forum «Sweden-Ukraine: Sustainable Partnership for Green Recovery».
«Sweden will assist in the restoration of the village of Zmiivka (Staroshvedske) of the Beryslav community, which suffered from Russian aggression, taking into account the security situation. It is not only about rebuilding houses, but also about restoring identity, culture and life. Such cooperation is about deepening ties and strengthening leadership in the restoration and development of damaged settlements,» said Oleksandr Prokudin.
As part of the event, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Government of the Kingdom of Sweden, Kherson Regional State Administration and Beryslav. The document defines the main areas of cooperation in the areas of environmental safety, energy independence and institutional support for communities.
The forum paid special attention to innovations in the field of renewable energy. Prior to the full-scale invasion, the Swedish company already owned and operated wind farms in the Kherson region with a total capacity of over 300 MW.
«For our part, we are ready to share our unique experience of civil-military management in war with our partners. This exchange will strengthen the resilience and readiness of the partner country to face any challenges,» said the head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration.
Earlier it was reported that 362 houses in the village of Posad-Pokrovske in Kherson region are to be restored by the end of autumn this year.
