An inventory of trees and shrubs in the city’s squares and parks is currently underway in Mykolaiv. To date, specialists from the municipal enterprise «Mykolaiv Parks» have surveyed 21 green spaces.
The enterprise reported this in response to an information request from NikVesti.
Work on recording green spaces began in April 2024. The municipal enterprise noted that the inventory is carried out annually between April and October in accordance with the requirements of current legislation.
Specifically, this refers to the 2001 order of the State Committee for Construction, Architecture and Housing Policy of Ukraine, which approved the instructions for the inventory of green spaces in settlements across Ukraine.
‘Mykolaiv Parks’ notes that when drawing up the budget request for the following year, the enterprise provides for funding to carry out such work on the city’s green spaces. However, due to the state of martial law, funds for these purposes are not currently being allocated.
According to the municipal enterprise «Mykolaiv Parks», as of today, an inventory has already been carried out at 21 of the city’s green spaces:

The appendix provides more details on the area of green spaces and the species of trees growing there:
It should be noted that as of September 2025, an inventory had been carried out across 10 green areas.
It was also reported that, according to estimates, a full inventory of trees in Mykolaiv would cost around 15 million hryvnias, but the city does not have such funds.
It should be noted that since January 2022, most of Mykolaiv’s green spaces have been transferred to the management of the municipal enterprise «Mykolaiv Parks». The company looks after 263 parks, squares and public gardens, as well as 424 green areas along the streets. Only three public gardens and Soborna Square remain under the jurisdiction of the Housing and Communal Services Department. In effect, ‘Mykolaiv Parks’ has become the main caretaker of the city’s green spaces.
However, since the transfer of all green areas, it is still unclear exactly how many shrubs and trees are growing there. The Mykolaiv Housing and Communal Services Department began an inventory before 2022 but never completed the work. Trees were counted several times — in 2008–2009 and 2015–2018 — and only in parks and squares. However, no record has ever been kept of trees along the city’s streets and roads.
