The Mykolaiv Department of Housing and Communal Services did not disclose the amount spent on dismantling the commemorative plaque marking the city’s founding near the chess club on Flotskyi Boulevard.

This is stated in a response to an information request from NikVesti.

The department stated that the work was carried out by the municipal enterprise «Mykolaiv Parks» without separate contracts and without additional funding. However, the specific amount spent was not disclosed.

«According to information from the municipal enterprise «Mykolaiv Parks», the work was carried out by the enterprise’s own staff as part of its current operational activities, using regular employees and the enterprise’s existing material and technical resources, without concluding separate contracts and without additional funding,» the Department of Housing and Communal Services noted.

Six employees of the municipal enterprise were involved in the work, the Housing and Utilities Department noted.

As a reminder, the memorial plaque was dismantled on Thursday, 30 April. The government contact centre received a request to dismantle the monument from Vadym Pozdniakov, co-founder of the «Decolonisation.Ukraine» project.

The monument’s creator, the renowned Mykolaiv sculptor Oleksii Baiborodin, explained that the text had been crafted by several artists working together. In October 2025, the artist and long-standing teacher at the Mykolaiv Children’s Art School passed away.
