Ukraine is close to an agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which provides for the allocation of $900 million from a $16.6 billion loan.

This is reported by Bloomberg.

It is noted that representatives of the IMF will most likely announce the allocation of the tranche on Thursday, February 22. The agreement still needs to be ratified by the fund's executive board.

«The agreement was the result of discussions that took place over the past two weeks about how Kyiv will be able to finance its activities in the event that the US funding, which is limited in Congress, does not come. These plans, aimed at showing that Ukraine can continue to service its debts, include expanded sales of domestic bonds, tax increases and spending cuts,» the report said.

It also notes that the disbursement from the IMF will be the first of four that Ukraine expects this year, totaling $5.4 billion, which is part of a full-scale program for Ukraine.

We will remind that on December 14, 2023, Ukraine received the third tranche of financing in the amount of about 900 million dollars from the International Monetary Fund within the framework of the extended financing mechanism program.
