The new construction of the Korabelnyi Palace of Culture in Mykolaiv, according to the project proposed by Italian architects, will cost 36.4 million euros.

Ukrainian architect Olena Hordynska, who was the developer of the project, told about this in an interview with NikVesti.

The project «KKP: Korabel cultural park» became the winner of the Italian competition «Design for Peace» in 2023, defined as a key element of urban regeneration. The presentation of the project took place more than a year ago, but potential donors have not yet appeared during this time.

«Financing is one of the main challenges. We are actively looking for potential donors and sponsors who could participate in the implementation of our ambitious project,» said Olena Gordynska.

According to her, there are currently only partners who helped with the technical aspects of the concept development. However, there are no funding proposals for the implementation itself.

According to calculations, 36.4 million euros are needed for the construction of the Palace of Culture. This includes various foundation works, communications, security systems and green spaces, as well as creating an inclusive environment for visitors.

Korabelnyi Palace of Culture

The attack on the building of the Palace of Culture took place on July 5, 2022. As a result of shelling by the Russian army, one of the PC parts was destroyed.

In March 2023, the head of the cultural department of the city council, Yurii Liubarov, announced that the city authorities were considering several options for restoring the Korabelnyi Palace of Culture. So, one of the ways that the authorities of Mykolaiv were considering is the demolition of the old building and the construction of a new palace of culture.

Later, the Ukrainian architect Olena Hordynska, in cooperation with the Italian bureau Altereco, presented one of the possible options for rebuilding the Korabelnyi Palace of Culture. In the project, the architect suggested turning the destroyed PC into a cultural park «Korabel kultural park».

The facility resumed its activities in September 2023 after the arrival of a Russian missile. The Palace of Culture worked for almost 5 months before the incident that happened on the evening of January 22. The fire with an area of 30 square meters occurred in the attic.

The fire at the Korabelny Palace of Culture in Mykolaiv put an end to the work of the institution. Management believes it was a deliberate arson.
