The works will cost 2 million hryvnias.
The relevant tender has been published on the Prozorro public procurement website.
According to the tender documentation, the contractor is to carry out finishing works inside the school premises. Specifically, the works include the repair of walls, ceilings and floors, the replacement of some doors and windows, and the refurbishment of bathrooms, electrical systems and lighting. The work is to be completed by the end of 2027.
Three companies submitted bids for the tender. The lowest bid was submitted by Elit Bud-Garant LLC — 2 million 51 thousand 600 hryvnias. During the auction, the company reduced its initial bid by almost 44 thousand hryvnias.
As Oleksii Savchuk, head of the capital construction department at Mykolaiv City Council, explained in a comment to NikVesti, the renovation project had been prepared even before the full-scale war began, but at that time there were insufficient funds for its implementation.
«The project was developed before the war. We have now managed to secure funding for only part of the work. This mainly concerns finishing works,» said Oleksii Savchuk.

Photo: NikVestiLarysa Stoliarova, headmistress of Music School №5, told NikVesti that the school requires a much more extensive refurbishment. According to her, a project for the complete reconstruction of the building had previously been drawn up, which envisages not only internal repairs but also the construction of an additional wing.
«For now, we are only talking about part of the ground floor, which remains in an unrenovated state. Overall, we have a project to renovate the entire building. The cladding of the façade and the ventilation system are unfinished, and much repair work remains to be done. But it all depends on funding,» noted Larysa Stoliarova.
She added that premises that have remained unrepaired for a long time are gradually deteriorating, so even a partial refurbishment is important for the school.
According to the DREAM ecosystem, the total cost of the renovation project for Children’s Music School №5 is 23.2 million hryvnias. The project involves the internal reorganisation of the premises, the replacement of all utility networks, the landscaping of the grounds, and the construction of a new wing with a passageway to the main building.
Currently, the confirmed source of funding is 8 million hryvnias from the city budget, which accounts for approximately 34% of the total project cost.
It is known that attempts were made to carry out the renovation even before the full-scale war. The design and cost estimate documentation for the project was commissioned in 2019, with over 1.2 million hryvnias spent on its development. In 2020, a contract for the construction work was even signed, but the project could not be carried out due to a lack of funding.
It should be recalled that in February 2026, Larysa Stoliarova, director of Mykolaiv Children’s Music School №5, stated that the school was cutting teaching hours as well as teachers’ allowances. In addition, she appealed to the city authorities, councillors and international foundations not to allow arts education in Mykolaiv to ‘die a quiet death’.
