More than 4 thousand tonnes of 2021 grain that does not meet state standards put up for auction in Mykolaiv region

«The State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine» has put up for auction more than 4,000 tonnes of 2021 grain in Mykolaiv region that does not meet state standards.

The relevant tenders have been published on «Prozorro.Sale», and the auction will be held by on 19 November.

The corporation sells wheat, barley and corn of various categories that have been found to contain excessive levels of garbage and grain impurities, colour and smell unusual for healthy grain, and pests. Such grain cannot be used for food or feed purposes and is only allowed for technical purposes.

In particular, 2,710 tonnes of wheat does not comply due to the presence of pests, excessive impurities and unnatural colour and smell, with a starting price of 25.4 million hryvnias.

Another 21 tonnes of poor quality wheat also contains pests and organoleptic defects, with a starting price of 178.5 thousand hryvnias.

Barley with a volume of 444 tonnes also fails to meet the requirements due to pests and unnatural colour and smell, with a starting price of 3.9 million hryvnias, and third-class barley with a volume of 298 tonnes exceeds the permissible waste impurities, contains pests and defects in smell and colour, with a starting price of 2.6 million hryvnias. Corn of the third class with a volume of 600 tonnes does not meet the quality indicators due to excessive impurities and organoleptic defects, with a starting price of 5 million hryvnias.

In Mykolaiv region, farmers lost a significant portion of their crops due to spring frosts and prolonged summer drought. Sunflower and corn suffered the most, with yields in some fields decreasing several times compared to previous years.

According to Volodymyr Afanasiiev, a specialist at the Department of Agricultural Development of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration, 1.3 million hectares of crops were sown for the 2025 harvest, of which approximately 100,000 hectares were lost and another 350,000 hectares were severely damaged.

In total, the region produced two million tonnes of grain in 2025, 170,000 tonnes less than last year. Sunflower production decreased by half a million tonnes to about 250,000 tonnes, while the harvest of vegetables and potatoes remained stable at 500,000 and 150,000 tonnes, respectively.
