More than 5.6 million hryvnias will be spent on overhauling the building of the Korabelnyi District Court in Mykolaiv, which was damaged by arson. The funding will come from the state budget.
This is evidenced by data from the ProZorro public procurement system, according to NikVesti.
The tender was announced for the repair of the building at 29-A Samoilovycha Street. The fire damaged the entrance, corridors and some rooms. Nevertheless, the staff of the institution continues to work on site, in rooms where the smell of burning is still noticeable.
According to the tender documents, the contractor is to repair the interior, facade and utility networks and remove more than 40 tonnes of construction waste. It also involves the complete replacement of windows and doors, facade insulation and electrical upgrades. The works are to be completed by 30 June 2026.
As it became known, the fire in the court occurred on 5 January 2025. The next day, the police detained the arson suspect, an 18-year-old boy. According to the investigation, it was the task of Russian special services. He was served a notice of suspicion under Article 194 (2) of the Criminal Code «Intentional destruction or damage to property», which carries a sentence of up to 10 years in prison. In March, the case was referred to the Vitovskyi District Court.
The Main Department of the National Police of Mykolaiv region NikVesti reported that the suspect had pleaded guilty and agreed to cooperate with the investigation.
As a reminder, in January 2025, law enforcement officers served four teenagers with suspicions of arson attacks on railway facilities.
