Due to the war, drought and lack of funding, this year has become more difficult for farmers in Mykolaiv region than in 2023.

This was announced by Vitalii Kim, head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, on the «We Are Ukraine» TV Channel.

He emphasised that the region still faces many problems related to supporting agribusiness.

«I would like to say that, to give an overall picture, the situation is worse now than in 2023. In 2022-2023, everything was being demined, no one understood anything, and everyone expected that standard processes would be restored in 2025. However, (in 2025) there was a very strong heat wave, drought, and 35% of the crops burned. This hit our farmers very hard, because now the situation is the same as in 2023, but there is no money and little enthusiasm,» said Vitalii Kim.

The head of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration also noted that the situation can be improved only if the state support programmes for farmers are revised. In particular, it is about adapting them to the specifics of the frontline regions.

«In my opinion, support programmes need to be expanded so that they can work in the frontline regions. It is the hardest for us. The conditions, access to money and programmes are more difficult for us. We are working on this. Only the state can help our farmers,» he concluded.

Earlier, NikVesti reported that Ukraine expects the lowest sunflower harvest in ten years.
