Today, January 26, Ukraine returned the bodies of 77 fallen servicemen to government-controlled territory.

This was reported by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.

It is noted that the handover of the bodies of the fallen soldiers was carried out in cooperation with the Joint Center of the Security Service of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Sumy region, the DPSU, and other representatives of the structures of the country's security and defense sector.

«Work on preparation for the repatriation event was carried out for a long time,» the message reads.

The Headquarters also thanked the International Committee of the Red Cross for facilitating the return of the bodies of fallen soldiers.

The agency added that the Armed Forces will ensure the transportation of repatriated bodies and remains to designated state specialized institutions for transfer to law enforcement agencies and forensic medical experts to identify the victims.

Also, Ukraine managed to bring home the bodies of 82 dead soldiers. The transfer of bodies from the temporarily occupied territories took place with the assistance of the Office of the Commissioner for Missing Persons under the Ministry of Reintegration in cooperation with law enforcement agencies.

We will remind that Ukraine managed to bring home the bodies of 83 dead Ukrainian soldiers.

It was previously reported that on December 22, the bodies of 66 defenders who died in battles were returned to the territory controlled by the government of Ukraine.
