In Mykolaiv, 26% of educational institutions have shelters

Out of 142 schools and kindergartens in Mykolaiv, 37 educational institutions have been equipped with shelters.

Such numbers were mentioned at a press conference by the mayor of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Sienkevych, NikVesti reports.

Based on this, 26% of the total number of schools and kindergartens in the city are equipped with shelters.

Yes, 18 out of 68 Mykolaiv schools have protective structures. As for kindergartens, there are safe shelters in 19 out of 72 institutions.

«We see that we have arranged 18 shelters in our schools. There were a total of 68 schools before the war, of which 4 were destroyed. 19 out of 74 are equipped in kindergartens. We continue our work with kindergartens,» said the mayor.

Equipping educational institutions with water purification systems is also underway.

«And 72 institutions out of these 142 are equipped with water purification systems, which will continue to be installed, including at the expense of our partners from abroad,» Oleksandr Sienkevych said.

We remind you that recently in Mykolaiv, the commission recommended the opening of seven more educational institutions where shelters are arranged.

It was previously reported that 54 shelters are planned to be installed in kindergartens, schools and lyceums in Mykolaiv over the next few years.

As you know, there are already 15 full-time kindergartens in Mykolaiv, where more than three thousand children study.

We will remind you that the outflow of students was recorded in the schools of Mykolaiv this year. Compared to the last academic year , the number of schoolchildren decreased by 3,300. Vitalii Kim, the head of Mykolaiv RMA, explained that the city's schools work online because they are still targets for the Russian army.

In addition, in 2022, as a result of military events and the lack of a sufficient number of children in the Mykolaiv region, 16 kindergartens stopped their work.
