In Mykolaiv, 17 condominiums received about ₴400,000 in payments to compensate for the cost of electric generators

In 2023, only 17 condominiums in Mykolaiv took advantage of the program for partial reimbursement of the cost of electric generators and other independent alternative power supply devices.

This became known on Friday, December 22, during the meeting of the budget commission of the Mykolaiv City Council, NikVesti writes.

Ihor Nabatov, the first deputy head of the department of housing and communal services, said that the program for partial compensation for generators was already successfully operating last year. In the new edition, portable power plants were added to the program.

Oleksandr Bereza, a deputy of the Mykolaiv City Council, raised questions about the necessity of the program in the absence of emergency shutdowns.

«If we don't have emergency shutdowns, will this program work? Now we don't have emergency shutdowns, will there still be compensation for electric generators?» asked Oleksandr Bereza.

«Yes,» replied the deputy director of the DHCS Ihor Nabatov.

«And for what purpose will it be done then? If there is no emergency situation, then what is it for?» Oleksandr Bereza asked again.

The head of the budget commission, city council member Fedir Panchenko, explained that this program is aimed at stimulating condominiums to provide energy for their homes independently.

«This is how we compensate for the installation of generators. Will we purchase and install them when everything is turned off? We want to encourage our condominiums to provide their homes with generators. Last year, we adopted the specified program, so that condominiums would receive part of the money from the budget, and give part of their own money, so that their elevators would work during blackouts or, for example, there would be an unbreakable point in the basement,» he said.

In response to MP Maksym Kovalenko's question about the effectiveness of the program, Ihor Nabatov noted that currently only 17 condominiums in the city have taken advantage of this program and received compensation in the amount of 428,000 hryvnias.

«A total of 1.5 million hryvnias was pledged for the program, of which 17 condominiums took advantage of this program for 428 thousand hryvnias. Some of the condominiums already had generators, some of the condominiums did not use the program, but if we speak in terms of percentage, it is not many homes,» summarized Ihor Nabatov.

As you know, in December 2022, the Mykolaiv City Council approved the Program for partial compensation of the cost of purchasing electric generators by co-owners of apartment buildings. They plan to compensate up to 50% of the cost, but no more than 30 thousand hryvnias. Co-owners of houses who purchased generators from June 1, 2022 will be able to receive partial compensation.
