After the meeting of the «Coalition of the Willing» in Kyiv on 10 May, European leaders and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke by phone with US President Donald Trump. They called on Russia for a 30-day ceasefire.
This is according to a post by Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha and a joint statement by the four leaders published on the British government's website.
According to the head of Ukrainian diplomacy, Zelenskyy, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer had a constructive conversation with Trump. Andrii Sybiha stressed that Ukraine and all allies are ready for a full unconditional ceasefire on land, in the air and at sea for at least 30 days, starting on Monday 12 May.
The leaders' joint statement explains this as necessary to «create space for negotiations on a just and lasting peace».
Earlier, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitrii Peskov said that Vladimir Putin rejects the possibility of a 30-day ceasefire until the supply of weapons to Ukraine stops.
